Land Acknowledgement
I live and work on the traditional lands of the Blackfoot confederacy: Siksika, Kainai, Piikani, as well as the Îyâxe Nakoda and Tsuut’ina nations, and the Métis Nation of Alberta, Region 3 within the historical Northwest Métis homeland. I also work across Turtle Island, and work in the traditional territories of all Turtle Island’s First Peoples.
As a student of the decolonial movement, I recognize my presence in Treaty 7 Territory as a settler, and my responsibility for living in right relationship with the sovereign nations of this region. Alongside continually deepening my understanding of how colonization harmed and continues to harm land and peoples, it is my intention to help foster pathways for transformation towards harmony for the traditional peoples, plants, animals, and all those who have come to call this land home. In integrity, I understand that my mindset and actions are the first place of transformation, and that this growth is ongoing.
